Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announces that unmarried women above 21 years of age will get Rs 1,250 per month as aid under the Ladli Behna Yojana.
The scheme, which benefits around 1.32 crore women, will be gradually increased to Rs 3,000 per month.
Chouhan also announces that women will get 33 per cent reservation in Lok Sabha and in state Assembly under the Women Reservation Bill passed by Parliament.
There is already 33 per cent reservation for women in local bodies in the state.
The Ladli Behna Yojana is a welfare scheme launched by the Madhya Pradesh government to provide financial assistance to women in the state.
The scheme was initially open to married, widowed, and divorced women, but has now been expanded to also include unmarried women above 21 years of age.
This expansion is a significant step towards empowering unmarried women in Madhya Pradesh.
It will provide them with much-needed financial support and help them to achieve their full potential.
