
Governor Arnold Palacios and Lieutenant Governor David Apatang recently convened a meeting alongside Leila Staffler, the Secretary of CNMI Department of Labor, with Terence J. Trotter, the District Director of the Wage & Hour Division at the U.S. Department of Labor, Patrick G. Candoleta, the Assistant District Director for Guam and the CNMI, and Feng Daniel Wang, an Investigator from the U.S. Department of Labor Wage & Hour Division. The purpose of the gathering was to formalize an agreement by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU). This MOU has been established to renew the collaboration between CNMI Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Labor. Its focus is on facilitating the exchange of information concerning training and labor opportunities.
The key objectives of the MOU encompass aiding unemployed individuals in their reintegration into the workforce, providing avenues for enhancing skill sets and obtaining certifications through training programs, and fostering the advancement of the people of the Commonwealth as a whole. As outlined in the memorandum, CNMI Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Labor commit to ongoing cooperation in the pursuit of expanded employment prospects for the citizens of the Commonwealth.
