The Editor,
The Pakistan Times,
Lahore.
Sir, I applied twice for the job of a stenographer in PIA. Each time besides! spending money on attested testimonials, photos, sending documents by registered post, every candidate was required to send a postal order amounting to Rs. 500. The first time, PIA officials called me for the initial test, but the result was not intimated. The second time they did not even call me to appear in the test. Only God and the PIA officials know what became with the application or why I was not called for the test though I fulfilled all the requirements of the advertisement given by the department in the Pakistan times on May 5, 2014. One of my friends who applied for the same job was called for the test positively, but my application might get lost somewhere in the office concerned. I don’t know whether I should call it a stroke of bad luck or the shocking negligence on the part of the PIA officials. I want to inform the authorities of PIA that I belong to a very poor family residing in the rural area of Shujabad. My father, a retired primary school teacher, served the education department for more than 35 years. In spite of being extremely poor, he did everything in his powers to provide us with a good education.[the_ad id=”17141″]
Nowadays, he is suffering from cancer and the doctors have declared his case hopeless. Even today, he gives us lectures on role models, honesty and morality. He has developed our confidence and urged! to adopt a realistic approach to life. But when I see the prevailing situation in my country, there appears to be no merit anywhere and instead nepotism, corruption, carelessness, and inefficiency reign supreme in every sphere of life. We seem to have totally forgotten about the fact that we got this country in the name of Islam and our forefathers did not hesitate to make any sort of sacrifices for the achievement of freedom. I made hectic efforts to get the telephone number of the PIA Chairman and personally requested him to kindly let me know the reason why I was treated in such an unjust way, but could not find any satisfactory answer to my dilemma.
I appeal to the airline officials that they ought to at least tell the applicants how they fared as in the test and they should also inform the applicant why their applications have been rejected. In the end, I would like to quote a line from the Bible which says
The poor mans wisdom is despised and his words are not heard.
Yours truly,
